Jeffrey K. Dorso
Jeffrey K. Dorso joined the Firm in 2001 and is a partner in the Land Use and Environmental Law Department of Diepenbrock Harrison. Jeff's practice includes counseling clients, both public and private entities, on various issues related to land use and the environment. His practice focuses on project permitting, including planning (General Plan, Specific Plan, and zoning), development agreements, the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA"), the National Environmental Policy Act ("NEPA"), the Endangered Species Act, the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act ("SMARA"), and the Williamson Act.
Jeff's practice covers the full entitlement process, from pre-application strategy, through the administrative process, and litigation, if necessary. He also has a strong background in land use and environmental litigation, specifically with respect to CEQA, NEPA, and SMARA. In 2003, Jeff's litigation practice expanded to include environmental litigation before the California Supreme Court.
Jeff is admitted to practice before all California courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He is a member of the California State Bar Environmental Law and Real Property Sections, and the Sacramento County Bar Association Environmental Law Section.
Prior to practicing law, Jeff received his B.A. degree with majors in Philosophy and History from the University of California, Davis in 1998. Jeff also attended the American University in Cairo, Egypt, where he was a scholarship basketball player from 1996 to 1997. In 2001, Jeff received his J.D. degree from Tulane University. At Tulane, Jeff was elected Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property (2000-2001), received the Tulane Sports Law Certificate, and was an active member of the Environmental Law Society.
